Neo had just finished the story of his battle with the Liger Zero, and the haze that had covered his mind had almost completely faded. The old man sat over in the corner almost asleep, he looked to be almost as lost in Neo’s memories as Neo had been mere moments before. The Geno Breaker had just told Neo that it had seen something buried deep in Neo’s mind, and Neo was anxious to hear what had been seen, yet the old man was tired and Neo doubted the Breaker would go anywhere while he went away to sleep. Yet still, Neo did not want to leave his friend, obviously, the Breaker had been listening to Neo’s thoughts because mere moments later its soft voice whispered into Neo’s mind. “It is late, and the story I will tell you can wait till tomorrow. Go to bed.”
Neo was still a bit doubtful about leaving his zoid, but the old man grunted awake a moment later, this decided for Neo. Neo knew that the Breaker was about to tell him something that should be kept a secret, so he decided he could wait until tomorrow to come back and talk to the zoid again. This time privately. As Neo turned the old man started to get to his feet, “I think it is time for bed young man, but don’t worry I will put some more weapons on tomorrow, so it should be only a week before it is finished.” Walking over the man patted the Geno Breakers left leg. “Don’t worry about your friend here, you can come back and see him anytime.” The old man turned toward the door. “Well let’s go I got to lock the place up.” After one last glance up at the Geno Breaker, Neo stepped toward the door followed by the old man.
Outside the door Neo looked up at the sky, it was cold and it looked like it would snow at any moment. He liked the snow; there was just something about it that made him happy. Neo heard the door close behind him, and turned to see the old man closing a lock so big it looked like a blade liger would have a hard time cutting it open. With a wave and a smile, the old man turned to his house door and was gone a few moments later. Neo could not help but give a small grin under his cloak, that man sure was something, and Neo still needed to get his name, “Oh well I better get home or I won’t be able to wake up and come tomorrow.” Neo turned to the Slash Liger, which seemed happy to be home where his master was, unfortunately, he had to leave for just a few more days.
The liger seemed disappointed that it had to leave its master so soon after arriving, but Neo needed a way home, and because his master had told Neo to use the liger, it wouldn't let Neo down and in turn would not disappoint its master. Neo was relieved by the thoughts of the zoid, but this quite quickly turned to shock. Yet again, he could understand the basic feelings of the zoid, something had to be going on in his head for him to be able to do that, yet the liger did not seem surprised by this fact at all. In fact, it seemed quite amused by the fact that Neo was in shock. Neo tried to push the thoughts out of his head and just make his way for home, but he could not Maybe he would find out tomorrow what was going on in his head when he spoke to his Geno Breaker again.
Neo Arrived at blade base a few minutes later, still a bit shocked, but he had gotten over most of it. He was tired and needed some sleep, so he dragged himself from the liger cockpit and stumbled to his room. As soon as his head hit the pillow he was gone, but his dreams would not let him forget about what happened that night. His dreams started dark and foreboding.
Neo was standing in a long dark hallway, closed doors almost every 10 feet or so, Neo took a step forward, then another and another. He knew were to go, and sure enough a few minutes later after walking down the hallway Neo reached an open door. Neo pushed his way into the room, along the right side of the room was a Geno Saurer, and it seemed to be glowing, its core door was open and several long cables ran from it to what looked to be a generator, but Neo couldn't be sure.
On the left side of the room, three scientists were standing around a large glass tank, and they seemed very intent on what was happening in the tank and finishing their work. Neo noticed long cables running from this tank to the generator well, he was curious. This would cost him shortly. As he walked over to the tank he was finally able to make out the words that the scientists were saying.
"Don't you think doing this goes against the law of nature?"
"We are scientists, we exist to tamper and disprove your so called law of nature. Now shut up and go turn up the energy output of the core."
The man who had spoken first paled; quickly turning he ran to the large generator and turned a few knobs, the machines hum grew, as did the glow of the Geno Saurer and the glow of the tank. At this point Neo was completely enthralled what was in the tube, he slowly made his way to look into the tank but quickly and shocked more than anything had shocked him pulled back at what was inside.
"How is the project progressing?"
Quickly Neo turned to the new voice, and in the door stood a tall man with a black suit with symbols rank. This had to be the captain of this facility.
"It is progressing well, sir. The Geno Saurer is right on the edge of evolving and the other side of the project is accepting the core frequency generated by the evolution process."
"Good, Good. So are there any problems?"
"No, sir. Everything is proceeding smoothly and efficiently if it continues this way we could see evolution within the next week or so."
"Very well, continue on." The man turned and left. Neo walked over to the Geno Saurer and up to the core, it seemed familiar somehow, and it was pulsating with a very friendly energy. Suddenly a voice echoed in the room, but none of the scientists even took notice, there was no one around and it did not come from anywhere but everywhere.
"Neo, this is where I was born, I was merely a lowly unfeeling Geno Saurer but these scientist forced me to evolve. Now I am your Geno Breaker, but I want you to dream the rest of my life so I can show you how you tie into my life."
The voice slowly faded away, and as it did the room brightened, it got brighter and brighter. Screams echoed in the room and Neo was forced to turn and see what the screams were. It was the scientists they were terrified of what was happening to the Geno Saurer, so Neo raced over to them to see what they saw, and as he turned around, he was just as horrified. The Geno Saurer was completely covered in bright white flames and the armor of the zoid was melting off. There was no way that was his friend, he stumbled back and stopped at the tube. The guns on the back had pretty much melted off, and Neo was racking his eyes he wanted to end this terrible dream.
Suddenly the door opened and the captain burst in, he also went into shock at the side of the zoid but that quickly subsided as he raced over to the lead scientist. “WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO? WHAT HAPPENED?”
“We don’t know, sir. We were watching the statistics and the zoid just suddenly exploded into flames.”
“Is it evolving now?”
“We can’t say for certain, sir, but it seems more like it is melting away.”
The captain threw the scientist across the room just as a group of soldiers ran into the room. “Sir, what can we do to help, sir?”
“For starters,” The captain looked at the lead scientist, “kill him.” The lead scientist looked shocked, or he did for the last 2 seconds of his life. “Then I want you to possibly kill the other two in accordance to what they say next.” He turned back to the scientists. “Now what is going on?”
The scientist gulped, “Well I believe that the zoid is indeed evolving but at in a very weird way, you see we have never connected a human mind and a zoid together before during the evolutionary process. So it could be the zoid is taking on a form that the mind is forming and it to off for it to do so with the current armor, so it removes the current armor and regenerates it and the weapons in accordance to what the mind sees.”
So, is the project a success?”
“It is too soon to tell but by my thoughts yes I do but we will need to monitor it for the next few days, or as long as it takes to evolve but in the mean time I think we should keep all flammable substances well away from it.”
“And what of this part?” The captain walked over to the tank.
“Ah yes it should develop quite well thanks to the output of the evolving zoid, don’t worry we will watch over it.”
“You better, I don’t want anyone ruining Project Nexis and to hurt baby Neo.” Neo recoiled in shock that was him that little embryo in the tank was him. No it could not be, because if it were he would have to be over 100 years old by the grime that covered his Geno Breaker, Nexis.
“Ah you finally see our connection. Yes, that is you and that is I. We share the same energy and you are able to understand the zoids because of that. That is why they made you, in hopes of making a weapon capable of understanding and better controlling zoids. Now let us continue on to a later moment in time, where you awoke from your very slow growth.”
Neo was standing beside a large tube again the same one he had been by mere moments before but this time it was later many years later. The tube was covered in dust but the power still seemed to be running. Inside a young Neo was done growing, the tube started to crack and just as it did a large surge of energy was let loose. This caused a nearby village to be destroyed. Neo watched as his younger self escaped from the tube and made his way to the town. His childhood that he had forced himself to forget flashed in his mind.
“That’s enough I don’t want to remember any more than this, please stop.” Neo crumples to the ground grabbing his head; unable to bear it any more blackness enveloped him again.

Neo bolted up to alertness, the remnants of the dream he had just had was still boring deep into his mind, and he wondered if what he had faced in his dream had been reality or if it had just been the excitement of yesterdays events, but suddenly Nexis’ voice intervened into his head, “No it was all real, the events of your creation was sent to you through our subconscious link into your head.”
“So last nights dreams were all real? I wish they were not but fortunately because of those events I think that I have come to understand you more and this will allow our connection to blossom.” Neo was still unused to being able to communicate with his zoid sub-consciously so he was saying this while he was thinking it. He shuddered at the thought that he had been in a tube for several hundreds of years, he thought over what he had seen as he got up, and as he was done with dressing and breakfast, he made his way out to the zoid. As he started toward the hanger, he noticed an envelope with his name written in big black letters.
Neo pulled the envelope down and opened it up. There was a letter from the old man in it.
“Neo I have taken the Slash Liger out to the mountains to get some special materials I use in repairing zoids. I apologize I did not wake you but since you were up late last night I decided it was better not to. I should be back at around twilight. Stop on by the Shop and talk to your friend while you wait.”
As Neo finished reading over the letter, he tucked it in a pocket on the inside of his cloak. It would not be busy today anyway, so he could just take his time and go over to the old operates store and talk with Nexis. As he walked down the road toward the old operates house he did some shopping for some new parts for Nexis. He tried the armor shop and found two nice pieces of armor that would help protect the zoid, he then tried the weapon shop, but did not find much of anything there, lastly he came to the parts shop, it had some nice parts that he would like but he did not have the cash to purchase them yet.
As Neo walked out of the shop Nexis’ voice rang in his head, “Neo trouble get here now.” Neo quickly stopped looking around and took off at a run toward the old operates house.
“What had happened? Had the old man fallen down? Had there been an accident at the shop?”
These questions passed through Neo’s mind as he raced through the town, later he would look back and realize now how he wished it were one of the last two. He reached the door to the hanger a few minutes later, inside only Nexis stood. “Bad news Neo, the old man took the Slash Liger out to the mountains.”
“Yeah, I know.”
“Well that is not the bad part, you remember the Elephander that attacked us. It seems it has friends out there and they are attacking him.”
“THEY WHAT! We got to find someone to help him.” Neo quickly raced to the nearest radio and checked for the nearest, unfortunately none of Team Blade was close the closest was about two towns away and would take nearly a day to reach him. That was to long, but he did manage to reach the old man.
“Neo, is that you Neo. Some wild Elephanders attacked me, and I am stuck in a valley with them blocking the exit. Could you lend me a hand?”
“But, all of Team Blade is out and won’t be back for a while.”
“Don’t worry while I didn’t get all of the breakers on the SCPG and the melee weapons equipped.” Neo turns to Nexis sure enough the pincers are in place, as well as all the armor. “Also the shield works. Now hurry.” Static covers the line and the old man is gone.
